The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

It's right there in the Constitution, Steve.

Mr. Sibson accuses Larry Sabato of trying to ruin the Constitution by suggesting that it might be time for the State legislatures to call for a Constitutional Convention. He's not.

Article V - Amendment: The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; ...

there have been times in the last two decades when a Constitutional Convention might have been a good idea.

Steve, if you have an answer to this post that is different from your comments elsewhere, feel free. But don't paste the same answer to multiple posts. It's discourteous to our readers. Believe it or not, this blog is not all about you, man.

You are not being courteous to this reader. BUt you are being more fair to me than Sabato is being with Thomas Jefferson. Your readers will have to find my other comment to know those details.

Nothing in this post suggests that we have to have a constitutional convention every 19 years. Again, you manipulate the truth so that it becomes a false accusation. Again, if your readers need to know what I am talking about, they have to find the other comment.

Just reference your other comment, or link to it, Steve. It's not rocket science. And stop whining. It doesn't suit you.

Even your attempt to add active links to your comments don't work. That is not whining, it is the truth.

Bill Fleming said...

Oh really Steve? What's wrong with this link?

Bill Fleming said...

...or this one?

Steve Sibson said...

So what went wrong with the link on Sabato's thread?

And why did you respond on that thread instead of putting up this post?

Bill Fleming said...

If you want the links to be "hot," Steve, you have to encode them. You know... in html.

I thought you were a computer guy, no?

Otherwise, if you don't write code, just paste your link's URL in and let the readers here copy and paste them into their browsers if they feel like it.

Meanwhile, you're still whining, I notice.

I left your comment on the Sabato thread because that's where the conversation is happening. It's obviously not happening on this thread, as you have yet to address the point made in the post.

Now really, Sibby, if you're just going to troll and spam here, I'm going to start deleting you again.

Shape up.

Pull yourself together, man.
