Brooke's time in this run was 3.2 seconds. The series below was shot in about that time span. The rope is secured to the saddle horn by a light string. It has a rag tied to it. When the roped calf hits the end of the rope, the string breaks and the rag flies out on the end of the rope, which signals the timekeeper to stop the clock. The faster the horse can stop, the faster the flag flies out.

Good photos! Especially the one where she is stopping. Look at that horse hit the brakes! Holy smoke.
When I lived in Newell I went to several local and high school rodeos. I had a great time. Those kids are really skilled.
