The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

My, my, my. Ain't this sumpin'?

The CALIFORNIA BEER & BEVERAGE DISTRIBUTORS is helping to fund the No on 19 campaign in California to the tune of $10,000.

19 in Cali will legalize possession and use of small amounts of cannabis by adults. It will be a close vote.

Here is part of a summary by a legislative analyst on the CA Sec. of State's website:
Summary of fiscal impact on state and local governments: Savings of up to several tens of millions of dollars annually to state and local governments on the costs of incarcerating and supervising certain marijuana offenders. Unknown but potentially major tax, fee, and benefit assessment revenues to state and local government related to the production and sale of marijuana products.

The CA Beer & Beverage Distributors are fighting what they see as a turf war against a foe they believe will take part of their market. They ignore the fact that the cannabis using segment of the market is already established, and that that segment does not share in the support of government (taxes) wrung out of the alcohol market.

If alcohol were still prohibited by law in California, these two groups of distributors would be shooting each other instead of dukin' it out at the polls.
