The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

Trouble trouble trouble trouble

Our old friend Bill Fleming brings this piece by Sam Hurst to our attention.

That the piece is extremely well-written, should come as no surprise. Sam is an excellent writer. That the piece hints that he thinks Republicans are by nature stupid and racist, isn't surprising either.

But this piece is about Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, Dr. Weiland and the South Dakota Democratic Party. It is incisive. It is, when describing South Dakota Democrats, accurate, I believe.

And, it further explains why Ms. Herseth Sandlin is in trouble – real trouble – in the upcoming election. The primary challenge she so desperately worked to stall, probably would have been good for her and her party.

Mr. Hurst has written a good piece here. It is more than a good read. It is a good look into the South Dakota Democratic Party's entrails. Republicans and Democrats alike will find that reading it will be time well-spent.
