Here are Barack Obama's specifications for a health care plan. I link to it here for reference, because it looks like something is going to pass relatively soon, and people on both sides are going to be claiming victory or defeat, happiness or disappointment, etc, etc. And it will certainly be a mark on his record, one way or the other. So let's first be clear about what he said he would do. Then compare that to what actually happened. Fair enough?

Fair enough. It's still Tally's for breakfast, right?
Yup. Is the deadline Christmas or New Years? Does Tally's make Huevos Rancheros?
Congress would pass and Obama would sign into law a meaningful health care reform bill before Congress takes its Christmas break, I believe was the deal. If Tally's doesn't make Huevos Rancheros, (and I lose) I'll bring the habanero sauce, you bring the defibrillator.
Can I get an extension because of all the Republican stall jobs? Probably not, huh? Besides, Ben Nelson and Joe Lieberman are just as bad. (Hmmm...did I spell Joe's last name right? Oh wait, who cares.)
Raise your hand if you're excited! This makes my liberal heart all warm and fuzzy.
Republicans, fire away!
I nominate Taunia as the arbiter of the meaning of the word "meaningful."
I think we all agree the current health care system is broken.
Even if what Congress passes makes matters worse, I would concede that any health care reform bill that Obama signs before Christmas would qualify as "meaningful."
And, no Bill, you can't have an extension. Your guys have a super majority. My guys can't stall anything.
Your guys know if they rush this through and its a mess, 2010 will be a very difficult year for them. So they're are feigning interest in what Republicans have to say, after having completely cut them out of the process until now.
