The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

Don Frankenfeld? I thought this was Epp's baby last election.

A LGBT PAC?

Is this South Dakota or NY?

Welcome to the 21st century.

Nice ad, BF.

Thanks, Taunia. It was kind of a fun typesetting challenge. Hopefully, the information is sorted out in such a way as to help the reader keep moving through it. Don't see many ads with that many words these days.

Taunia, Todd chaired the Equality South Dakota PAC last year, and did a great job. This year's chair is Lawrence Novotny of Brookings. I am vice chair. Both Chuck Fritzel (of Washington, D.C. and Hill City), and I are Republicans. I asked Fleming to help with this ad, because we Republicans like to exploit and appropriate the talents of Democrats whenever we can. Tricking Fleming into supporting a worthy cause is a piece of cake.

Think he knew he was being used?

This is a really refreshing project, Republicans venturing forth on a PAC of this nature. I knew you were a Republican, hence my amazement (did you get that through my words?).

Best of luck, and I am sincere. The bipartisanship is something we could all work on. Cause, you know, we're still kind of all in this together.

P.S. Please come visit here more often.

Taunia,

You are talking faux Republicans. In other words Progressives have infiltrated both political parties. This has been true since the days of Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. That is why this fraternity fight between Democrats and Republicans is a distraction from the real battle...individual freedom based on Natural Law versus growth of state-control based on Hegelian dialectic.

Taunia Adams said...

Um, Don, what do you think about Sibson calling you a faux Republican?

That's fairly brazen and disgusting.

Sibson, you're the reason Republicans, or more so the party, are in trouble. Your brand of "IN YOUR FACE" politics, and the accompanying lies and I'm-right-you're-wrong-at-any-cost sucks and turns the entire world off.

Attack away, tell me I'm secular, that I'm non-American, that I'm a baby killer, yadda yadda yadda.

Your about as predicatable as an infection after a cut.

Do you EVER try to compromise and not stick a knife in the mix?

"Do you EVER try to compromise and not stick a knife in the mix?"

Compromise principles? Can't.

And it has been Fleming and you who have been using sharps words. Why don't you respond in a reasoned and civil way on the point of "individual freedom based on Natural Law versus growth of state-control based on Hegelian dialectic"?

Taunia Adams said...

Yeah, Sibson, I can compromise, and not compromise my principles while compromising. It happens all day long, by everyone in the world.

Great men compromise daily.

Can you?

********

Hegelian dialectic is manipulating people into fighting over issues.

Natural law implies respect for the freedom of one's likes.

I'd say you've got Hegelian dialect down to an art. Your arguments are always off base (such as you are doing now - this has nothing to do with this post, so, this is Exhibit 1).

And how could you possibly defend the your lack of respect for others' likes and freedoms?

You can save the post to me. When this topic comes up elsewhere, I'll play along.

I still like this ad AND the idea that created it. Thanks, Frankenfeld, you're a GREAT Republican.

I'm not too upset that Sibson calls me a "faux Republican" although I always worry that he may mispronounce "faux" and make it sound dirty. The cool thing is that I am a Republican, and there is not a thing he can do about it, except call me names.

I was a Goldwater Republican in 1964 (age 16), and still consider myself that. Goldwater was certainly a person of principle, but he also was capable of growth and change, as evidenced by his support of gay rights late in life.

Sibson, too, is a person of principle, and I respect that. But my sense of him is that he is not open-minded, nor willing to entertain a small measure of doubt about whether his principles are correct. To me, the ability to act with conviction yet harbor some (small) measure of doubt is a difficult combination to which I aspire, and which I would recommend to Sibson. The conviction empowers you to act, and the doubt compels you to listen carefully to the arguments of others. It is a good way to learn, I think.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Don,

I have learned that there aee many members of the GOP that are like you, and you guys have control over the Party. Your elitist attitude fosters an intolerant and disrepectful attack on the conservative base. Saying you are moderates, because you compromise with the radical left who have control over the Democrat Party, fuels that elitist attitude. The truth is that you are the same radical Progressive that embody the Democrat Party. There is nothing moderate about it.

So we really do not have two parties anymore. There is the Progressive majority having their way with those of us who are standing firm on individual natural rights. Now you understand the makeup of the Tea Party movement that has arisen. We don't care about political parties. We care about America.

If you harbor any doubt at all, then you would take the time to study the research I accumulate at my web site. Understanding natural law is the key.

Steve,

How does somebody get to be like you?

Steve,

"I have learned that there aee many members of the GOP that are like you, and you guys have control over the Party. Your elitist attitude fosters an intolerant and disrepectful attack on the conservative base."

"elitist...intolerant and disrespectful" You MUST be kidding.

Here's what you've learned: You're not the base. You never were. And the real conservative base has told you that we have had enough.

If you want to follow Jesus-Loves-Furniture-Bob-Fischer and Dobson and all the others into a fresh new party, from my perspective, that would be the thing for you to do.

You have become an embarrassment to reasonable, fiscally conservative Republicans. And, while the likes of Carl Rove have been successful in the past in their efforts to empty church pews at election time, the time for that has passed. George W. Bush killed your chances of being in power again for quite some time.

So Moneybags Bob and Rev. James and and you, Steve - may you look to Jesus Christ to help you develop a successful new American political party devoted to hating all things that are "not you." Let's see how long it takes Him to answer your prayer.

For someone who claims to be a Christian, you certainly take little guidance from Him.
