The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

Shots from the book

These photos were shot at the Days of '76 rodeo in 1982 and 1983, respectively. The top one shows Steve Mowry of Presho (one of the best bullfighters in the business at the time) straightening out a bull so the rider can loose himself from the hangup.

The lower shot is of Steve Tomac, St. Anthony ND, preparing for his run for the ND legislature, where he served eight years during the late '90s-early 2000s.

Both should be around next week and during the Days for a clown reunion organized by the '76 committee, which should include some old-timers like George Mills and Wilbur Plaugher and Jimmy Shoemaker, as well.

The High Plains Heritage Center of Spearfish will host a "Campfire" next Wednesday evening from
7-9pm featuring a bunch of these clowns and bullfighters. Should be a fun time. I'll be there.
