Here's the breakdown on the floor vote for HB1217, a bill that, if signed by the governor, will result in a lawsuit which the state will surely lose.
Every person who voted on the bill, including those who sponsored and voted for it, knows it will never be enforced. For that reason alone, the supporters should be tarred and feathered. They wasted the time of their colleagues while playing on the misguided hopes of a minority of their constituents.

No one talks about this, but I don't recall this much extremism in the SD Legislature before (term limits) accelerated turnover and greased the skids for more varied representation.
Used to be the State GOP kept these nutbags in check. They've apparently given up; and in SD they can get away with it.
