The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

Drumming my fingers...

Kristi has a bunch of speeding tickets in South Dakota. Steph has one. But Lars has a dozen, so Steph’s total is now 13. A judge in Rapid City refers to speeding tickets in his courtroom as “revenue enhancement.”

A law is a law, and when we speed we risk a fine. On open rural highways, speed limits are pretty arbitrary. Bench warrants? They’re handed out like popcorn.

There is so little difference between Ms. Herseth-Sandlin and Ms. Noem in practical terms that we seem to have been reduced to arguing about which future pork-shoveller will best represent the law-and-order side of us. When it comes to pork, does it matter?

The larger number of aggregate family speeding tickets gets my vote.

Since speeding ticket revenue goes to local schools (I think) Kristi gets my vote for her generous support for education.
