The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

The House passed the "comprehensive health care" bill

How high's the water, mama?
Two feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Two feet high and risin'

We can make it to the road in a homemade boat
That's the only thing we got left that'll float
It's already over all the wheat and the oats,
Two feet high and risin'

How high's the water, mama?
Three feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Three feet high and risin'

Well, the hives are gone,
I've lost my bees
The chickens are sleepin'
In the willow trees
Cow's in water up past her knees,
Three feet high and risin'

How high's the water, mama?
Four feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Four feet high and risin'

Hey, come look through the window pane,
The bus is comin', gonna take us to the train
Looks like we'll be blessed with a little more rain,
4 feet high and risin'

How high's the water, mama?
Five feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Five feet high and risin'

Well, the rails are washed out north of town
We gotta head for higher ground
We can't come back till the water comes down,
Five feet high and risin'

Well, it's five feet high and risin'

Yep. Another 32 million people qualifying for health care is going to swamp the country. And if the remaining 17 million eventually get it, we will really be sucking up the detritus in the slough of despond.

Its about time this passed. Looks like maybe Obama is a lot more powerful of a president than many were giving him credit for.
Come on in, the water's fine. (and it helps wash away the free conservative kool-aid.)

Yes, David, and those people now have access to the same Health Care options that Stephanie and John Thune has. Not to mention Ron Paul, who's on the single pay Medicare program.

Bottom line this will save thousands if not tens or hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years.

All in all, a far better use of my tax dollars than paying soldiers to kill and be killed in unjust, unneeded wars or than to develop murderous weapons that will never be used.

It there comes a time when we have to choose which of these options to fund, I vote the former as opposed to the two latter.

I have at this thread a couple of times now and I have to say that I just really don't know what to make of quoting what must be all verses of the song. Sometimes I don't really get sarcasm, and sometimes the metaphor escapes me. I confess that this is one of those times.

Oops--the starting phrase should have been "I have looked at this thread...."

I'll tell ya, Wayne, I too have looked at it several times and I feel just like you do.

Good Repub to Repub heart to heart here:

Looks like at least some of them beginning to come to their senses.

The tribal members are exempt from the provision of mandatory insurance coverage (enforcement by the IRS). That is because they already receive world class health care and have such a long and healthy life to look forward to, thanks to Uncle Sam.

Mayo or Mission for health care?

There is no chance the Republicans will come to their senses. They will continue to dismiss as kooky the only one of their members in Congress who makes any sense--Ron Paul.

I don't hate air force personnel or retirees with single payer medical care. I do hate posts published under the name "Anonymous," so I deleted the one that accused me (or someone) of hating the groups listed in the first sentence.
