The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

Censure

Last night, the city council set for public hearing a resolution to censure Ward 2 Alderman Sam Kooiker. I've not had time to post on the topic, so the Journal scooped me on this one. Read it, and the comments here. I'll comment later.

Sam is the only one with courage on the city council. He understands the first one out of the foxhole gets shot, you just don't expect it from the back.

I don't know what's going on here so I won't comment except to say that I look at this site every day and I have been wondering about getting some topics of local interest. I like all of you guys but the soapboxing sometimes gets to be a little much.

The proposed censure resolution is available on the Journal's website. If everything in it is true it looks as if Mr. Kooiker's grandstanding will not be deterred impeded by facts.

I think that the best advice when dealing with any political situation is to say "... you might be right" if your talking to your wife or girlfriend that changes to "...your probably right"
