Come come now, Al...
The video below of Al Franken taking Sen. Thune "to the woodshed" as Bill puts it is typically deceptive (Al's speech, not Bill).
Franken says he has a whole list of benefits that take effect "from day one," and then doesn't list them. I suspect had he actually listed the "benefits" they would only include those benefits that don't cost anything.
The chart to which Franken refers is contained in the video attached to this post. And, clearly Thune is discussing the fact that the tax increases Obama absolutely swore would not be contained in the bill, begin immediately, but the money collected does not really get spent until a decade later.
Anyone who believes that this bill is deficit neutral, ain't payin' attention. Twisting one sentence in a long speech is nothing more than spin.
I wonder why the Democrats don't just fess up and tell their constituents the truth: "hey, we're in charge now. You elected us. And, we're going to shove this legislation you've clearly told us you don't want, down your throat, while we're picking your pocket. Live with it, suckers."
