The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

Senator Harry Reid - "Taxation Is Voluntary"

Is there any reason to believe a word this man says about anything?

Here is my phraseology 'Quit taking our property.'

Reid's right. It's long settled the US income tax is voluntary. There is no law and no court case finding where the US income tax is mandatory.

Doubt it? Cite a law or cite a case where the income tax is compulsory. Tax cases rise and fall on false reporting, etc., not compulsion. On the other hand trying to assert your right will cost you dearly and may cost your liberty by a jury of tax payers. What a system.

The original Constitution allowed, among other items, taxes on profits. Wages are not profits, they are compensation. No one has the gall to make the income tax mandatory.

Nakesh is exercising free speech.

I dunno, but something tells me Nakesh's brand of exercise wasn't exactly free, Taunia. Bye bye Nakesh.

Odd how that works... no one law saying it's required (or even a group of related laws), but there is provisions for them to send your ass to jail if you don't pay the taxes!

Harry Reid is a prime example of why no one believes politicians or trusts them. Taxation is voluntary???? Give me a break! But Reid is well schooled in political double-speak or spin (i.e. lies) though and shows it well here.
