Sometimes one has to wonder how our country got into the mess we're in. And how is it that geographical location can determine the same location's political sanity.
In some California communities, it is now against the law to de-claw your cat. Doing so can land you in jail and get you a hefty fine. Read it here. Now, Californians who move to our neck of the woods think we're crazy out here.
A state that has more budget problems than Chrysler is concerning itself with de-clawing cats. Will removing dew claws on dogs be next? (We do that out here so that the dogs do not injure themselves as they go chasing birds that we've shot out of the sky.) What happens if you've had your cat de-clawed in South Dakota and then move to California? Will you be arrested for being in possession of a de-clawed cat?
Every time I read guys like Sam Hurst tell us how stupid we are out here on the lone prairie, I have to wonder from where are they coming?
Jail and a fine for de-clawing a cat. Go figure.

Silly rabbit, pets are for cool people! Not hicks from the sticks.
Great post!

I think that should be a decision between the cat and the vet and their God.
Is there an exception for a sodomized religious kitty?
If de-clawing is cruelty, what does Mirkarimi think of castration and ovarectomies?
Yes, Bob, if the cat promises to use her claws only on mice and never furniture. And if she only marries the nice Tom next door. Or if a dog has played with her in the worst possible way... I could see then why, if your chair looked like a St. Bernard, why she might claw it once in a while. But other than that...
I wonder what the Mexican market is for de-clawing services?
