The whole point of free speech is not to make ideas exempt from criticism but to expose them to it.

Welcome home, Newland.

As some of you know, our friend Bob Newland has been a little inconvenienced of late. But that's all behind him now. He's back in the saddle, so to speak, and I for one am looking forward to some stories from "behind the scenes" when he's ready to tell them. Good to have you back, Bob.

I love the smell of freedom in the morning.

Eighteen minutes ago I walked out of the Pennington County Work Release Facility a somewhat freer man than I was at 7:59 a.m.

I post from Dunn Bros. coffee shop.

My next step is to meet with my probie, who will tell me when I have to see him again.

My primary goal until July 6 is to avoid doing anything that will prompt Judge Delaney to revoke my probation.

It's not freedom, but it will do until something better comes along.

We shall hope that your primary goal will be to avoid becoming remotely interesting to the state.

Will your 1st Amendment rights be restored on July 6?

I'm not sure Bob can address that one Nick, so I'll tell you that I believe that is when Judge Delaney's gag order expires.
