A friend just sent this joke. I think it's funny:
The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.
The Pope leans toward Mrs. Pelosi and says, "Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts and they'll forever speak of this day and rejoice!"
Pelosi replied, "I seriously doubt that – With one little wave of your hand? Show me."
So he slapped her.

It's a joke.
I may not agree with slapping women, but I am not opposed to slapping Pelosi.
Reminds me of my confirmation. We all got slapped by the Bishop. They used to slap you pretty hard, I've heard. These days it's just a little tap.
Anyway, when the Bishop whacks you, you're officially in the "club." At least that's what they taught us in Catechism class.
What happened to the title of this blog?
I know Cory, what's up with the contempt for Nancy Pelosi anyway? Can you explain it Mike? Donna?
Hitting women jokes are less than funny.
The Pope didn't really slap Nancy.
Wile E. Coyote didn't really fall hundreds of feet off a cliff.
Foghorn Leghorn didn't really slap the young chickenhawk. Neither does Miss Prissy actually strike Foghorn with a frying pan.
It's a joke.
Good grief- is everyone really all that serious about this ? It is just a joke- I thought you Dems were a little more thick skinned than this.
But you have to admit- it may be kind of nice to give her a little tap as she gets into the airplane to fly to CA twice a week at our expense.
There are jokes, and there are bad jokes. Comparing your joke to Wile E Coyote demonstrates a serious missing of the point.
And Donna, your condonement of violence isn't funny either. Don't try turning into a lib/con thing. It's a person thing. joking about hitting women... or political figures in general... does not contribute to a decorous conversation.
If you don't like a joke, here's a novel idea: don't laugh at it.
But please, dearest thought police, stop trying to tell us what's funny and what's not. Or what's a proper subject for humor and what's not. It's not up to you.
Thanks.
Anonymous. That doesn't make any sense.
How else are you going to "not laugh" on a blog other than to write in and comment that you don't think something is funny?
And you know what? It's always up to the audience to decide if a joke is funny or not.
Always.
Now, if you think otherwise, maybe you've been watching a little too much Cluster Fox.
(Cluster Fox... get it? ...get it? Now THAT's funny!)
So a dirty joke is OK, Bill? That's more offensive to me than the one about hitting Pelosi. I'm not for hitting women, or men for that matter, but Pelosi has shown her contempt for so many people and ideas that I have long ago lost any respect for her. This was just a joke, maybe not the nicest joke, but a joke. Like you wouldn't have thought this was funny if Pelosi had been changed to Cheney, Bush, etc.
So violence and making fun of the Pope is less offensive than a sex pun? That tells me a lot about you, Anon. Thanks for sharing.
