Finally. Someone who's a bigger political joke than I am.

From the Rapid City Journal:

A former South Dakota teacher has dropped out of the race for U.S. Senate.

Kurt Evans of Mitchell was running as an independent against incumbent Sen. John Thune, a popular Republican who is seeking a second term. There's no Democratic candidate in the race.

Evans announced Thursday that he's ended his run, citing a strained relationship with the news media.

Evans is the son of late country musician Kyle Evans. He ran unsuccessfully for the House as an independent in 1996. When he ran for the U.S. Senate as a Libertarian in 2002, Evans received less than 1 percent of the votes.
