Come come now, Al...
The video below of Al Franken taking Sen. Thune "to the woodshed" as Bill puts it is typically deceptive (Al's speech, not Bill).
Franken says he has a whole list of benefits that take effect "from day one," and then doesn't list them. I suspect had he actually listed the "benefits" they would only include those benefits that don't cost anything.
The chart to which Franken refers is contained in the video attached to this post. And, clearly Thune is discussing the fact that the tax increases Obama absolutely swore would not be contained in the bill, begin immediately, but the money collected does not really get spent until a decade later.
Anyone who believes that this bill is deficit neutral, ain't payin' attention. Twisting one sentence in a long speech is nothing more than spin.
I wonder why the Democrats don't just fess up and tell their constituents the truth: "hey, we're in charge now. You elected us. And, we're going to shove this legislation you've clearly told us you don't want, down your throat, while we're picking your pocket. Live with it, suckers."

The only ones who have said they don't want it are the loser Republicans and anyone who has believed their lies, Mike. The majority have consistently, although more quietly and respectfully, said they want and need a better health care system.

ReplyDeleteDemocrats were all about the Gallup polls when they showed what a mess Bush was.
Fact is, Gallup shows the majority thinks just the opposite.

A better health care system is something all people want, rich or poor, Dem or Rep. This bill has nothing to do with improving health care. It has to do with taking control of the insurance industry, will cost everyone more in premiums, deductibles, and cost of care, is based on deceptive cost accounting, and on and on. It is being bought and paid for with money from Obama's slush fund to buy votes of recalcitrant Dems. It is being rammed down the public's throats without addressing the real issues. Franken is an idiot and in all probability never even honestly won the election. Thune is a class act.
ReplyDeleteThune might look like a class act here, but he IS up against Al Franken. If he didn't look classy in opposition to Franken, THAT would be news.
ReplyDeleteFranken lists them Mike.
ReplyDeleteAnd now we hear that Nelson's vote was gotten by mafia type tactics threatening to close Offutt AFB if he didn't vote for it???!!! Not surprising considering who is in charge right now - think Chicago style politics.
ReplyDeleteIf I heard it right, Thune said this was going to cost about $600 annually per tax-payer. So $50 bucks a month is buying us health care reform, attempting to put a constraint on the costs and rallying to make health care about health care and not big profit business. Man, even at Thune's inflated numbers, Sign Me Up!
ReplyDeleteAre we're paying a tax to help keep prices down? If you're sick, I know you'd save that $600 back in a single incident.
